David and Katharine have called West Melbury Farm home for over 30 years. Originally a dairy farm with 20,000 free-range organic laying hens, the farm has since diversified into the masonry business. Using natural stone sourced from a neighboring farm’s reopened quarry, they specialize in crafting the highly sought-after Shaftesbury Greenstone. While state-of-the-art diamond tools play a role in their work, much is still done using traditional hammer and chisel techniques.
Sustainability is a key focus at West Melbury Farm. Recent additions of two large solar panel arrays and a wind turbine enable the farm to achieve impressive green energy credentials.
