Shiplake Heritage Farm: Cultivating Legacy and Future Innovation
Farming in Shiplake since 1904, our family takes great pride in a tradition now led by Stephen, the fourth generation focused on a prosperous future. We cultivate a variety of crops, including cereals, oilseed rape, and morphine poppies, both on our own land and for nearby farms. Annually, we produce enough milling wheat for over 1.2 million loaves of bread and enough oilseed rape to fry 270,000 bags of crisps. Our Aberdeen Angus beef cattle thrive on the lush grasses of the River Thames water meadows during the summer.
We dedicate over fifteen acres to biodiversity, fostering habitats for pollinating insects and wild birds. We’re thrilled to maintain healthy populations of corn buntings and linnets. Stephen’s efforts to reduce our carbon footprint with 50-kilowatt solar panels ensure renewable electricity for the next twenty years.
Our success relies heavily on our skilled team. With over sixty years of combined experience, Murray and Kevin manage various farm operations, while Helen oversees office activities and handles Barn Store inquiries alongside Stephen.
We’re especially proud of our newly renovated barn, equipped with CCTV and a high-security alarm for Barn Store, and we look forward to assisting you with your storage needs.
Located within a ten-minute drive from Henley and Caversham on the A4155 in Shiplake, we invite you to call us! The photograph features the first three generations: Edmund, Frederick, and Brian Doble.
